Move every day. Build capability gradually.
Exercise does not have to mean extreme workouts, expensive equipment or comparing yourself with younger or fitter people. The goal is to keep the body moving regularly and maintain useful physical capacity for everyday life.
Walking, cycling, yoga, mobility work, household activity, recreational sport, strength exercises and active travel can all contribute. A good routine usually combines movement for the heart and lungs with strength, flexibility, mobility and balance.
The Government of India's Fit India Mission provides age-specific fitness protocols, including guidance for adults aged 18–65 and people over 65. Fit India also promotes incorporating regular physical activity into daily life rather than treating fitness as an occasional event.
An inactive person does not need to begin with an intense one-hour workout. Ten purposeful minutes can be a meaningful start. Consistency and safe progression matter more than proving how hard you can exercise on one day.
People with significant heart, lung or joint conditions, uncontrolled medical problems, recent surgery, chest pain, dizziness or unusual breathlessness should obtain suitable professional guidance before strenuous exercise.
